Pete Murphy is a talented, drugs skilled and innovative guitar maker. He is  native born to the Snowy-Monaro Region and now lives in Jindabyne, visit web NSW. Pete is a past guitar student of Cooma School of Music. He’s a fine guitarist and performs regularly.

Pete uses the very best in wood, hardware and parts in the construction of his wonderful guitars. With brands such as Seymour Duncan, TV Jones, Gover and  Gotoh, Pete doesn’t believe in cheap short-cuts. He loves to work with native timbers such as Tasmanian Blackwood, Victorian Mountain Ash, Queensland Maple as well as the exotics such as Afician Ebony and Indian Rosewood.

TUGS… the Tuggeranong Ukulele Gang

Every 2nd Sunday at the Tuggeranong Arts Centre, Corner Cowlishaw and Reed Streets, Greenway,1pm3pm. Starts Sunday May 15th

The instrumental phenomenon that’s taking the world by storm has finally hit Tuggeranong. Lead by the team from UkelyptusTUGS makes the opportunity to play in a stage-band available to everyone though the magic of the ukulele. No experience is required, so whether you’re 10 or 110, come and immerse yourself in the fun of this cute and cool instrument. Beginners will be looked after and assigned a Strum Chum from Ukelyptus to guide you through your first few sessions.

While some ukes will be available to try at the theatre, with prices starting at just $30, we suggest investing in your own. All reputable music shops are now stocking a range of ukuleles to suit all levels of interest. But demand is high, and you too may soon discover that one more ukulele is never enough.

No need to book, just rock up. Each TUGS session is just$5. You will also be required to purchase the Ukelyptusstage band repertoire book for just $15 which contains over 50 progressive and fun tunes to help you on your musical journey. So come and join the fun and change your life with a uke at TUGS.

Inaugural Canberra Ukulele Festival of Fun (the CUFF)

During the weekend of October 1st & 2ndUkelyptus will host the inaugural Canberra Ukulele Festival of Fun at the Tuggeranong Arts Centre (Saturday) with a world record breaking attempt ukulele jam session at Floriade on the Sunday Morning. The Tim Draxl Performing Arts Scholarship

Congratulations to the winners and participates of the inaugural Tim Draxl Performing Arts Scholarship 2011.

The winners of this year’s scholarship were:

Background
Singer, online pianist and actor Tim Draxl grew up in Berridale and enjoyed wonderful support from
the Snowy River Shire community as a young performer.  Having experienced
success both in Australia and abroad, medicine Tim wanted to give something back to the
community he grew up in.
The Tim Draxl Performing Arts Scholarship was established in response. The
scholarship is designed to support young Snowy River Shire residents in pursuing the
performing arts by providing financial support for workshops, conferences, and
other crucial learning experiences.
