Joshua McHugh, composer, singer, pianists and musical director

Joshua is a pianist, composer, librettist, singer and music teacher. He completed his third year majoring in classical voice at the ANU Canberra School of Music.

Among Joshua’s compositions are: A book for beginner to Intermediate level pianists, two books of piano etudes, a film score titled “No Junk Mail” and a song cycle; the latter having premiered in 2008 at Wesley Music Centre – performed by Ben Connor and Sonia Anfiloff.

In 2009, his award wining Opera, Grimm and the Blue Crown Owl premiered at the Street Theatre to sellout audiences. Since then, he has been commissioned to compose a chamber suit and give composition workshops at regional conservatoriums for the ANU School of Music.

Joshua has recently started working for the National Film and Sound Archive as a live accompanist for silent films.
