Alhambra Guitars Made in Spain
Last year (2008) I went to Melbourne for the Australian Music Association
Conference (AMAC). This an annual music trade show for music retailers to see all the products on offer in today’s music industry.
For me the most exciting find at the show was the wonderful range of . I had the chance to play just about the entire of these beautifully made Spanish instruments.
I was very impressed with these lovely guitars.
I have taken on the dealership for the ACT and region.
Now a little about these guitars:
is a highly regarded name among the Spanish makers. The Alhambra factory has been making guitars since 1965.
All the Alhambras have solid tops (red cedar or German spruce)
All the guitars are made by Alhambra in Spain.
The range of guitars covers student, intermediate and concert levels. Many of the guitars are available in 4 sizes for no extra charge:
Requinto (1/2 size), Cadete (3/4 size), Senorita (7/8 size), and of course full size. (these little guitars sound great!) For actual dimensions go to CHART.
.
This is a delightful instrument. It has a lovely tone, full dynamic range, easy to play and beautifully finished. And as you go up the range they just keep getting better.
These guitars have been a huge success in Sydney and Melbourne. They have
been highly praised by , , and Chris Keene.
Guitar students playing these Alhambras have had great success in concerts,
competitions, exams and eisteddfods.
(Our own Esa Janara took out first place (16 and under) at the National Eisteddfod in Canberra just last year. He won playing on his Alhambra 5P Cedar Top.)
Alhambra does an enormous amount to promote the classical guitar in Australia. Alhambra has sponsored the “Alhambra Sadie Awards”, an Australian guitar competition in honour of the late Sadie Bishop. Alhambra also sponsors the
