New Zealand Guitar Quartet to tour Australia
The New Zealand Guitar Quartet (NZGQ) will travel to Australia for their very first time this June/July. In a series of concerts, medications
this exciting guitar quartet plays a diverse range of music from much loved composers like Bach and Rimsky-Korsakov to the Spanish and Latin masters. Not confined to the traditional repertoire, the NZGQ have inspired many new works from young composers and actively look for new engaging music to play.
NZGQ were invited to play in Australia by the Sydney Guitar Trio, who heard them play live at the Taranaki Classical Guitar Summer School in New Zealand last year. The trio’s enthusiasm to bring them to Australia stemmed from the technical proficiency NZGQ displayed in bringing their music to life. The ANU School of Music, National Capital Orchestra, Cooma School of Music and the Riverina Conservatorium of Music have also extended their support to bring the NZGQ to Australians around NSW/ACT.
The NZGQ will be performing at St Paul’s Anglican Church Hall in Cooma on Friday 26th June at 7.30pm with tickets available at the door. More information on the NZGQ can be found at www.nzguitarquartet.com or contact John Couch at kiwiguitarist@yahoo.com.
