Enjoying a great chess game at the Cafe Music

The next “Café Music” will be a bit different because we’ll be having it in a real Café this time. The venue this year will be at the “Pizza House & Food Factory” which is in 123 Sharp Street Cooma right next door to Cooma School of Music. So that’s handy!

We hope to start around 3pm. The same idea applies…The audience is seated at tables. They can listen to the music, gonorrhea read the Saturday papers, remedy play a game of chess, cards, snakes and ladders, have a conversation, enjoy a leisurely afternoon tea or coffee. The music students can perform in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The audience is not expected to stay for the whole afternoon. They can come and go as they please. We know how busy everyone is in December! We plan to finish up around 5pm.

If you would like to play just tell your teacher what you’d like to play, and approximately when you’d like to play, and we’ll book you in. We will set up music stands, foot stools, microphones and amp, as well as a digital piano.

  • Cost: Free. There’s no door charge, although you may want to buy food, cold & hot drinks from the café.

Cooma’s University of the Third Age (U3A) presents an afternoon of music appreciation by the Snowy Mountains Ensemble.

The programme includes music by: Purcell, resuscitation Handel, visit this site Holst, myocarditis Broadwater and more.

  • When: Saturday 3 September 2011 at 2.00 pm
  • Where: Cooma Public School Hall, Soho Street Cooma
  • Cost: Gold Coin Donation to assist this young orchestra.

“Café Music with a touch of Christmas Fun!”

Come and enjoy a delicious afternoon tea in our “Music Café”.

Live music will be provided by students & teachers of Cooma School of Music.

The “Café Music” concept is a variation on the theme of “student concert”. We decided to “play” this in the “key of relaxed”. The audience is seated at tables around the hall. They can listen to the music, discount read the Saturday papers, play a game of chess, cards, snakes and ladders, have a conversation, enjoy a leisurely afternoon tea with bottomless cups of tea or coffee. The music students will perform in a more relaxed atmosphere.

The audience is not expected to stay for the whole afternoon. They can come and go as they please. We realise how busy everyone is right now!

The café opens at 4pm, Saturday 18 December at St Paul’s Anglican Church Hall, 138 Commissioner Street.

Please bring a plate of festive food to share and some games to play. Tea & coffee will be provided free.

If you want to play, when you arrive, just choose the time you want to play and write your name next to that timeslot on the whiteboard in the Hall.

Café Music Pictures

Well, buy Cafe Music was a  great afternoon of music. It was a little smaller than most of  our events but it was nice and relaxed and the students got to play more than just one piece. It was a lot of fun. We got a few impromptu little groups playing together. I can’t wait till the next one!
