Community Stage – Peak Festival 2016 (10-12 June

2016 Community Music Stage

The Community Stage focuses on giving live performance opportunities to regional bands, drugs ensembles and choirs. The festival directors envisage the long weekend celebrations becoming an important annual showcase for talents of the region. The Community Stage is proudly supported by Cooma School of Music. The MC will be Allan Spencer from the school.

Benji and the Saltwater Sound System

Benji and the Saltwater Sound System draws upon Benji’s recent immersion in Solomon Islander flavours fused with the reggae and African roots of its members past musical projects to create hypnotic soundscapes underpinned by painfully catchy melodies.

Contemporary and folk duo with a touch of Celtic.

Cielle Montgomery & James Church

Hailing from Cooma NSW, Cielle Montgomery & James Church are an act known for their captivating stage presence, powerful harmonies, skilful acoustic instrumentation and well-crafted original songs. Cielle’s all-acoustic debut EP is right at home in the folk/alt. country scene and available now!

Cooma Guitar Ensemble

Cooma School of Music was established in 1984. Its primary focus has been to develop the music culture in the Monaro/Snowy Mountains region. For over 30 years Allan and Leslie Spencer have endeavoured to bring the sense of achievement and joy of making music, in all its forms, to people of all ages and levels of expertise. The guitar ensemble is one of their projects.

Curious Rendition Orkestra

CRO is really more like a band than an orchestra. It includes violins, flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, trombones and other lower brass, accordions, piano, guitar, percussion. Their music includes Russian Klezmer tunes, a Capetown jazz tune,  New Orleans second line and a funky soul number.

Harry Cleverdon

Harry is 14 year vocalist who accompanies himself on piano or guitar. He plays popular music. Some of his favourites are by Billy Joel, Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars. He has played at many festivals, talent quests ,clubs and pubs.

Kay Proudlove

A display of honest storytelling, Kay’s live show is like being invited into the lounge room of an indie-folk songstress with an honest, heart wrenching voice and an accidentally dry sense of humour.

Matilda Rose

Singer/songwriter and guitarist who enjoys a wide range of music, particularly country/Rock country/pop.

Oscar, Dom and Harry

Alternative rock and folk band from the Monaro region with lively on stage performance covering artists from Hendrix to Sticky Fingers to Angus and Julia Stone.

Paul James

Solo singer guitarist performing predominantly American Folk and some Aussie standards.

Raising Cain

They are a local band who have been together for 2 years. They enjoy playing all styles of music and play guitar, ukulele, cajon and vocals. They are influenced by bands ranging from John Butler and blue grass folk through to heavy rock such as Halestorm.

Shelby Grace

Shelby Grace attends Snowy Mountains Grammar School.  She is a regular performer at all local music competitions and other Statewide country music competitions.  Shelby also enjoys busking.

The String Family

A crowd pleasing classical crossover string band playing a huge range of repertoire from classical to folk to pop to country with strings and some vocals. They are recent winners of the Cooma Busking Competition.

String Family Cooma Concert

The String Family will be performing in concert on Saturday 18th June 2:30pm at St Paul’s Anglican Church Hall, purchase 136 Commissioner Street Cooma NSW 2630

This concert will be part of their Australia-wide tour. This exciting ensemble was the open section winner in last year’s Australian National Busking Championships in Cooma. Since then, page among many other awards, they have won the open section of the South East Queensland ANBC regional finals this year, which was held in Stanthorpe. They made such a huge impression in Stanthorpe that they have been invited back to perform in the “Snowflakes in Stanthorpe” Festival in July.
Tickets are available from Cooma School of Music:
Adults – $25
Concessions – $20 (including Students, Seniors Card Holders & SMAC Members)
Children – Free
Afternoon Tea will also be provided free of charge.
String Family Videos:
The String Family will in the Cooma/Monaro/Snowy Mountains/Canberra region for most of June. They are available to perform for Weddings, House Concerts, School Workshops & Concerts, Restaurants, Private & Corporate Functions. For inquires regarding your special event call Sarah on 0415 424 855.

The String Family Is Coming To The Snowies!

I’m very happy to announce that The String Family is coming to Cooma/Snowy Mountains/Canberra region in June as part of their Australian Tour
Among many other awards, symptoms The String Family are the current Australian National Busking Champions.
They really are a talented and lovely family.
Their performances have been electrifying. And I have been amazed by the audience reaction to their music.
Sarah, sale the mother, medical is a concert violinist in her own right and has travelled around the world performing in all sorts of countries and venues as a  soloist as well as with various groups of musicians. Sarah’s plan now is to spend more time with her wonderful family and travel round Australia sharing their music.
If you hear of any performing opportunities, such as weddings, house concerts, dinner parties, private or corporate functions The String Family will be in the area from 5 to 30 June and they would be more than happy to perform.

This was the first Championship event that we’ve had outside of Cooma and we couldn’t be happier was the the results. We saw some truly jaw-dropping performances there.  Such great talent! 2013 ANBC Busker Callum McPhie is doing really well in Australia’s Got Talent
He is currently now in the Semi-finals of Australia’s Got Talent!
We just got this lovely message from Callum’s dad, no rx Doug…

“Like many of the other successful alumni of the 2013 Australian National Busking Championships, noun Callum, too, has now moved onto the national stage via TV talent shows etc. Testament we believe to the quality of both your festival and the judges.
