String Family Cooma Concert

The String Family will be performing in concert on Saturday 18th June 2:30pm at St Paul’s Anglican Church Hall, purchase 136 Commissioner Street Cooma NSW 2630

This concert will be part of their Australia-wide tour. This exciting ensemble was the open section winner in last year’s Australian National Busking Championships in Cooma. Since then, page among many other awards, they have won the open section of the South East Queensland ANBC regional finals this year, which was held in Stanthorpe. They made such a huge impression in Stanthorpe that they have been invited back to perform in the “Snowflakes in Stanthorpe” Festival in July.
Tickets are available from Cooma School of Music:
Adults – $25
Concessions – $20 (including Students, Seniors Card Holders & SMAC Members)
Children – Free
Afternoon Tea will also be provided free of charge.

I’m very happy to announce that The String Family is coming to Cooma/Snowy Mountains/Canberra region in June as part of their Australian Tour
Among many other awards, symptoms The String Family are the current Australian National Busking Champions.
They really are a talented and lovely family.
Their performances have been electrifying. And I have been amazed by the audience reaction to their music.
Sarah, sale the mother, medical is a concert violinist in her own right and has travelled around the world performing in all sorts of countries and venues as a  soloist as well as with various groups of musicians. Sarah’s plan now is to spend more time with her wonderful family and travel round Australia sharing their music.
If you hear of any performing opportunities, such as weddings, house concerts, dinner parties, private or corporate functions The String Family will be in the area from 5 to 30 June and they would be more than happy to perform.

This was the first Championship event that we’ve had outside of Cooma and we couldn’t be happier was the the results. We saw some truly jaw-dropping performances there.  Such great talent! I’ll try to post some video as well.

2013 ANBC Busker Callum McPhie is doing really well in Australia’s Got Talent
He is currently now in the Semi-finals of Australia’s Got Talent!
We just got this lovely message from Callum’s dad, no rx Doug…

Australian National Busking Championshipsâ„¢ – Busking Insights

Marco Solo 2013 01We basically get two types of buskers. Those that are competing for prizes, visit this site and those that just want to have a bit of fun. We warmly welcome both types. We want everyone to have a great day.

On the entry form, apoplexy buskers can nominate whether they are competing for prizes or busking “just for fun”.

The buskers that are just playing for fun are free to nominate how many 30 minutes sets* they want to do. That could be as little as one or two.

The serious competitors will probably want to maximise the number of sets they do. I think they will need to do  four 30 minutes sets.

Anything less than this and  there’s a chance that you may not been seen that often by a judge. Anything more and you may trier yourself out, so that if you do get into the Finals Concert you could be not at your best.

The Judges will be roaming around the various busking spots throughout  the day. They are assessing hundreds of performances. These performances are all different genres and age categories. It’s a big and complicated job. You’ll need to be seen to make an impact.

There is also the Peoples Choice Award. So the more playing you do, the greater the chance you’ll make more Busker Dollars. The busker with the most Busker Dollars wins the Peoples Choice Award. People will be able to purchase Busker Dollars for $1 each on the day. (Limit of 50 per customer). They must validate their Busker Dollars by writing their name and phone number on the back of their Busker Dollar. By the way, all of the Busker Dollars will be placed in a lucky draw. There will be great prizes for the persons named on the Busker Dollars that are drawn. This year we’ve decided to give a 10% cash back on the Busker Dollars.

The judging criteria are basically:

  1. Skill – how well you know your craft.
  2. Connection with the audience – communication
  3. Audience response- the “wow factor”
